Stephanie Gottwald
Artist | Hobbyist | Traditional Art
My Name is Stephanie and I am from Germany.
I paint since I am able to hold a pencil, but I am not nearly able to paint what I have in mind.
Most of the time I make fantasy and furry art but I am able to work outside of my comfort zone if needed.

I use many different media in my creations but I havent found my way into digital media so far. Sometimes I experiment with it, but I dont feel comfortable working at the pc for art.
But I am working on this problem. ;)

Find me on:

Hello everyone!

Before someone gets it wrong: I am not going anywhere. I am too long on DA to just cut it off, but some of my watchers may noticed that I am not as active anymore as I was some years ago.

Not everything on DA is bad. I think it is well maintained and maybe the best gallery I participate when it comes to technic and software.

When I started here I could upload a picture and get feedback, I make no difference between favs, watches or comments right now. When I posted something I got an reaction on it for the next 1-2 days and when I got better, I got more feedback.

These times are completely over.
When I post something I hardly get up to 10 favs and nearly no comments.
This hurts that much because I personaly think that I improved my skills over the last 6 years, but I get less feedback on my better works then I got on my old stuff.

The only way to get attention is to post my work on dozens of groups and spam the inboxes of their watchers to be seen. This is not what I want and it cost so much extra time that I could use to actually create art.
In my opinion deviant art is so overburdened with "social apps" and "look this, look that" that you get so spammed with artwork that you cant see or find anything.
Deviant art tried to get more social and promote so many different artworks that it lost its funktionality as an art gallery.
If someone finds one of my works and like it, there are tons and tons of artworks of other artists shown on the same page that the chance that he goes on somewhere else instead of looking at my own gallery is insane.
You get seen for a moment and then you are forgotten some seconds later.

After all these years I miss the "old" DA where I could simply share my artwork and  watch other artists I like, without posting to hundreds of groups and clean my inbox from 200+ messages daily.

As I mentioned I will not leave DA, but I will give it less attention in the future because now I rely on my works I dont have the time for a gallery that gives me nothing.
I never realy sold something on DA, no original art and no prints, I barely got in tough with other artists (nothing that has grown into a real life contact at least) and it seems that I dont get any attention here as easy as I can on FA Weasyl or facebook.

Maybe the times will change someday or I will get more time to spend it here but for now...less activity. :/
